About me – Studied as an archaeologist, worked in my youth on excavations in Egypt and used to be able to read hieroglyphics. (Bit rusty these days – not much call for it in Orpington!) Have worked for 24 years in the Civil Service, recently having the good fortune to spend 4 years on a secondment to NATO working in Rome – my dream posting! That’s where I took up running seriously, doing much of my training on the Appian Way – the ancient Roman road which runs south from the city. Married for 11 years to Amy, with 2 children, Nathan aged 9 and Eleanor aged 8, both of whom are occasional fun runners.

Memorable Experience – Sittingbourne 10, 2011: not a PB but 3rd place overall and in the County Championships – my first ever Senior county medal at the age of 44. To add to a perfect day, my daughter won the under-5s 1km fun run’Best’ result 1:15:11 at the 2013 Paddock Wood Half Marathon
